terms of service

the agreement between you and us.

last updated · april 29, 2026

By installing or using MicroFaith, you accept these terms. Read them. They are short, written in plain English, and we tried not to hide anything important.

Who is offering this service

MicroFaith ("MicroFaith," "we," "us," "our") is the operator of the MicroFaith iOS application and the website at microfaith.org. You can reach us at [email protected].

Acceptance of these terms

When you download or open MicroFaith, you agree to these Terms of Service and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not install or use the app. The Apple App Store also imposes its own End User License Agreement on every app downloaded from the App Store. To the extent these terms differ from Apple's standard EULA, these terms control where they are more permissive of you and Apple's EULA controls where it is more permissive of you.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use MicroFaith. If you are under the age of legal majority in your country of residence, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed these terms and consents on your behalf. The MicroFaith app is not designed for, and is not directed to, children under 13.

What MicroFaith is

MicroFaith is a Christian faith and screen-time tool for iOS. It blocks selected apps; redirects you to a brief prayer or study session when you reach for them; and tracks your daily practice as a tree, a soul, and — at five milestone moments per year — a "Glory Cam" stylized portrait. It is intended as a devotional aid, not as a substitute for a relationship with God, a local church, pastoral counsel, mental health care, or medical advice.

Your license

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the MicroFaith app on Apple devices that you own or control, subject to these terms and the Apple App Store EULA. You may not:

  • Copy, modify, decompile, reverse-engineer, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except where the law expressly permits it.
  • Resell, sublicense, lease, or otherwise commercially redistribute the app or your subscription.
  • Use the app to violate any law, infringe any third party's rights, or harass any other user.
  • Circumvent the screen-time shielding mechanism in a way that defrauds or harms another user (for example, configuring it on a device that does not belong to you).
  • Use the app to generate or distribute content that is illegal, hateful, sexual, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable.

Subscriptions and the lifetime plan

Pricing

MicroFaith is offered through Apple In-App Purchase. Current pricing for new users at the time these terms were last updated:

  • Annual subscription — $59.99 per year (approximately $1.07 per week), billed at the start of each annual period.
  • Lifetime plan — $199.99, billed once.
  • A free trial may be offered at our discretion and may vary by region and over time.
  • A 30 percent discount may be presented as a downsell offer to users who decline the standard subscription. This offer is not guaranteed and may be withdrawn or changed at any time.

Prices may differ by region and may change. Apple converts to your local currency. The price displayed on the paywall at the moment of purchase governs.

Auto-renewal

The annual subscription auto-renews each year unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Apple charges your Apple ID for renewal within 24 hours of the period ending. You manage and cancel auto-renewal in iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions.

Lifetime plan

The lifetime plan is a one-time purchase that grants access to MicroFaith for the operational lifetime of the app on the iOS platform. "Lifetime" means the app's lifetime, not yours: if MicroFaith is permanently discontinued, the lifetime plan ends with the app. We will give reasonable notice before any discontinuation. The lifetime plan covers MicroFaith's core feature set and any features marketed as included; future major standalone products are not promised under the lifetime plan.

Refunds

All purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests are handled by Apple under their standard refund policy. Use Apple's "Report a Problem" tool at reportaproblem.apple.com or contact Apple Support. We cannot directly issue refunds for App Store purchases. If you have a billing dispute, please contact us at [email protected] and we will help where we can.

Restoring purchases

You can restore your subscription or lifetime plan on a new device from Settings → Restore purchase. Restoration uses your Apple ID and the RevenueCat receipt validation flow.

Your content

You retain ownership of everything you create inside MicroFaith — your prayers, your reflections, your scanned scripture, your vow signature, your shared moments with a partner. You are responsible for what you create.

Because almost all of your content lives on your device, MicroFaith does not need a license to host or display it on a server. The narrow exception is partner sync via Apple CloudKit: when you opt to share something with a paired partner, you grant us and Apple a limited license to transit and display that content within the shared CloudKit zone for the purpose of providing the partner-sync feature. That license ends when you unpair or delete the content.

For Glory Cam, you grant us a temporary, limited license — for the duration of the generation request only — to transmit your selfie to our processing partners (Atlas Cloud, OpenAI, KLING) for the sole purpose of returning a stylized portrait and short video back to your device. We do not retain your selfie. We do not use it for any other purpose. We do not use it to train any model.

Sharing and the watermark

If you share a Glory Cam outside the app — to social media, to a partner, anywhere — MicroFaith adds a small "MicroFaith · Day {N}" watermark to the shared file. The version saved to your camera roll has no watermark. By choosing to share, you consent to the watermark being included. The watermark is not negotiable; it identifies the work as MicroFaith-generated, both for our benefit and so that anyone who sees the image understands what it is.

Scripture and devotional content

MicroFaith displays scripture in public-domain translations (such as the King James Version) where licensing terms permit, and in licensed translations where appropriate. Verse selections, study prompts, prayer prompts, and devotional commentary inside the app are provided for personal devotional use. You may share short excerpts in the ordinary course of religious practice. You may not extract our content systematically (for example, by automated scraping) for redistribution.

The denominational filtering is offered as a thoughtful default and not a doctrinal endorsement. If a particular passage or framing does not fit your tradition, follow the wisdom of your local church.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use MicroFaith to coerce, manipulate, or surveil another person under the guise of "partnership."
  • Use the app to attack, defame, or threaten anyone, including yourself.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' CloudKit shared zones.
  • Use the Glory Cam pipeline to generate content depicting any person other than yourself, or to attempt to generate sexual, violent, or otherwise objectionable imagery. The pipeline is configured to produce a single style of devotional portrait; abuse attempts will be denied at the model level and may result in account termination.
  • Use the app in any manner that violates local, national, or international law.

The shield is not a guarantee

MicroFaith uses Apple's FamilyControls and DeviceActivity frameworks to block apps you have selected. These frameworks are powerful but not bulletproof. A determined user can disable them — for example, by removing the MicroFaith Screen Time authorization in iOS Settings. The shield is a tool, not a cage. We do not promise that the shield will prevent you from using a blocked app if you actively work to circumvent it. Spiritual disciplines work because you choose them, not because we force them.

No spiritual or medical advice

MicroFaith is a devotional companion. It is not a counselor, a therapist, a pastor, a priest, or a doctor. It does not diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. If you are in crisis, please contact a qualified professional or, if you are in danger, your local emergency number. In the United States, the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is available 24 hours a day.

Service availability and changes

We strive to keep MicroFaith available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, add, or remove features at any time. We may release updates that change the look and behavior of the app. We may discontinue the app entirely with reasonable notice. If we discontinue, we will provide a path to export your local content where reasonably possible.

Disclaimers

MicroFaith is provided as is and as available. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and accuracy. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, secure, or free of errors; that any defect will be corrected; or that the spiritual content will be doctrinally aligned with every Christian tradition.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MicroFaith and its officers, employees, and contractors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the app — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total cumulative liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to MicroFaith shall not exceed the greater of: (a) the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) twenty United States dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the smallest amount permitted by law.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MicroFaith and its officers, employees, and contractors from any claim, demand, damage, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the app, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any third-party right.

Termination

You may stop using MicroFaith at any time by deleting the app and, if you wish, cancelling any active subscription through Apple. We may suspend or terminate your access to the app — including any active subscription — if you materially violate these terms. Where we terminate without your fault (for example, because we discontinue the service), we will give reasonable notice and, where appropriate, a pro-rata refund through Apple.

Apple-specific terms

Because MicroFaith is distributed through the Apple App Store, the following Apple-specific provisions apply:

  • These terms are between you and MicroFaith, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
  • If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation regarding the app.
  • MicroFaith, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claim by you or any third party relating to the app, including product-liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection or similar legislation.
  • If a third party claims that the app or your use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, MicroFaith — not Apple — is solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of any such claim.
  • You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo or designated by the U.S. government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms; upon your acceptance, Apple has the right (and is deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, except where local consumer protection law in your country of residence requires otherwise. The parties agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Delaware for any dispute that is not otherwise subject to mandatory consumer-protection venue rules. Nothing in this section limits any non-waivable rights you may have under your local law.

Before filing a formal dispute, please write to [email protected]. We will try to work it out with you in good faith.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a material way, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and surface a notice inside the app the next time you open it. Continued use of MicroFaith after a change indicates your acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not accept a material change, your remedy is to stop using the app and (if applicable) cancel your subscription.

Severability and entire agreement

If any provision of these terms is held to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and MicroFaith concerning the app and supersede any prior agreement on the same subject.
